Your team

You will be focussed on our two menswear brands, Burton and Maine. We’re a small, hard-working team of dedicated menswear specialists driven to get contemporary, high quality product to our customers. We work quickly, dynamically and strive to better ourselves, our business and our brands every day.

Our unique test and repeat model is the secret to our success. We travel the world and buy small quantities across a wide range – this lets us see what customers like, then we buy more. Seeing the popularity of our choices and products gives us a feeling of satisfaction and a job well done. We admit it’s addictive and a real source of pride for us.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Assistant Buyer for Debenhams menswear you’ll be innovative, driven and will thrive in a fast-paced environment. You must be passionate about menswear, not afraid to challenge ways of working or thinking and bring a positive and can-do attitude to your role every day. You’ll be responsible for driving the success of the department, adapt quickly to a new environment and work closely supporting the Buying Manager and Senior Designer with all tasks. You will enjoy the opportunity of a new challenge and tackle tasks head on with speed and precision, whilst acting as the heartbeat of the department. You will manage admin support on critical path ensuring new and repeat orders are raised in a timely manner. You will take ownership of fit sessions, writing fit comments and updating fit log for garment tech.

More About You

• Previous experience working in fashion buying, either at Assistant Buyer of Buyers Admin Assistant level.
• You don’t have to have come from a menswear background
• You consistently manage your workload effectively, trusted to make actions without prompt
• Your approachable to your whole team and external parties and always ready to help and support acting as a role model for junior members
• You accept feedback and are willing to adapt personal approach to achieve better communication as well as increased communication with senior management
• You’re a keen learner and always push yourself to find out more about the business industry and company
• Your super adaptable and find it easy to switch it up when the business needs
• You can delegate and share workload to the team effectively
• Your always ahead at spotting trends and commercial wins for the business

What To Expect From Here

• If we believe you could be a great fit for the role, we’ll invite you for an informal conversation via phone or Microsoft Teams with our Talent Acquisition Manager.
• If successful, you’ll then meet with the Menswear Buying Manager at Debenhams House to discuss your experience in more detail and explore the value you can bring to the team.
• Most of our hiring processes consist of two stages. You will meet with the Menswear Buying Manager to present a response to a brief – You may also be asked to meet with Senior Leadership
• We will conclude the process after this stage and feedback soon after your final meeting with a final decision.
